A 17TH CENTURY INN

ORIGINS & HERITAGE

The Swan’s story is closely tied to the history of Streatley itself. For centuries this stretch of the Thames served as an important crossing point for travellers moving between London and Oxford. Inns along the river offered rest and hospitality to those passing through, and The Swan emerged as one of the village’s most recognisable landmarks.

OUR STORY

A RIVERSIDE SETTING IN THE CHILTERN HILLS

Over the centuries, The Swan has evolved from a simple coaching inn into the riverside retreat it is today. While the buildings and interiors have been thoughtfully refreshed, the character of the place remains rooted in its surroundings. The river still shapes the pace of life here – from quiet mornings beside the Thames to evenings spent dining overlooking the water. Today The Swan blends its heritage with a relaxed, contemporary approach to hospitality. A place to gather, unwind and enjoy the beauty of the Thames Valley.
